1184 new Covid cases reported in Kerala

Thiruvananthapuram: 1184 Covid cases were reported in the state on Monday. Seven deaths were recorded during the last 24 hours. 784 persons were declared cured from the infection.

Out of 1184, 956 people were locally infected. Source of infection of 11 infectees is unknown. Out of the infectees, 106 people came from foreign countries and 73 people came from other states. 41 health workers also tested positive for the infection.

Thiruvananthapuram -200, Kollam - 41, Pathanamthitta - 4, Alappuzha – 30, Kottayam -40, Ernakulam -101, Idukki 10, Thrissur -40, Malappuram -255, Palakkad -147, Wayanad -33, Kozhikode 66, Kannur -63, Kasargode -146 is the district wise statistics.

2800 tests were conducted in large community clusters in Thiruvananthapuram. Out of this, 288 tested positive. IG Harshitha Athallore was given special charge to create public awareness on social distancing and other measures to contain the spread.

IG Sreejith was given special charge to coordinate the issues related to coastal areas as the contagion is gripping in the region. The coastal police will assist him in this regard.

'Neighbourhood watch system' will be implemented in the state to ensure security with the help of Janamaitri police to ensure the public are controlling themselves to curb the spread.
