Kozhikode: United Arab Emirates (UAE) authorities have announced help to flood-hit Kerala.

The authorities have called out people to extend help to the flood victims.

UAE President Khalifa bin Zayad Al Nahyan has ordered to form a special committee to make avail help.

The committee has been formed to receive donations from UAE citizens and other Indian nationals in the country. It comprises representatives of various voluntary organisations under the Emirates Red Crescent society.

The UAE Prime Minister and ruler of the Emirate of Dubai Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has made a request to the people through social media. The Indian state of Kerala is witnessing huge flood, the most devastating of a century. Ahead of Eid Al Adha, do not forget to extend a helping hand to our brothers, he tweeted.

To help the flood victims, UAE and Indian national will work unitedly. To provide immediate help, a committee has been formed. He has requested everyone to contribute generously to the initiative.

People of Kerala have been with UAE for its progress always and UAE is liable to help and support the flood-affected people, said the PM in his post.

The request has been made in Arabic, English and Malayalam through Facebook and Twitter. Thousands of people have thanked the leaders' generosity in the social media platform
