Yogi Adityanath government removed over 50K loudspeakers till date
text_fieldsThe Uttar Pradesh government is eagerly pursuing its drive against loudspeakers and has uninstalled over 50,000 loudspeakers from various religious places. The order to remove the 'illegal' loudspeakers from mosques, temples, and other religious places was issued on April 24.
Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) in Uttar Pradesh, Prashant Kumar said 53,942 loudspeakers had been removed till 7 am on Sunday. The sound level of 60,295 loudspeakers were reduced and brought down to the level of standard parametres.
An existing government order of 2018 and set rules for sound decibel limits and court directions were used for the crackdown.
Additional Chief Secretary (Home), Avanish Kumar Awasthi stated that a compliance report from the districts has been sought in this regard. "The police have directly talked to religious leaders to ensure the removal of unauthorised loudspeakers".
Data indicates that the Chief Minister Aadityanath is aiming for a neutral image by removing loudspeakers from Hindu temples as well.
Now, loudspeakers are not used during aarti in temples in Varanasi like Kashi Vishwanath Dham, Kaal Bhairav, Sankatmochan Temple, Durga Temple, and Tulsi Manas temple. In Prayagraj, loudspeaker was removed from Bade Hanuman Mandir, temples of Alopi Devi, Maa Kalyani Devi, and Lalita Devi. Similar actions were followed in Ayodhya and Mathura as well.
