Rubaiya Sayeed, Former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Mehbooba Mufti's sister, said she has identified JKLF chief Yasin Malik and three others as her abductors from 1989.

Rubaiya appeared before a special CBI court in a case related to her 1989 abduction on Friday. This is the first time she has been asked to appear in the case and she is listed as a prosecution witness by the CBI.

Being the daughter of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, then the Home Minister of India in the Janata Dal government, a splinter group of Congress, she was kidnapped by the Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front, a Kashmiri militant separatist organisation. She was returned after the demand for releasing five members of the group were met.

Yasin Malik is currently under trial for the kidnapping and exchange of five militants. He was recently sentenced to life imprisonment in a separate terror funding case.

The CBI took over the investigation in 1990.
