text_fieldsChandigarh: The woman junior coach who lodged a complaint of sexual harassment against Haryana minister Sadeep Singh told the media that she was offered money to hush up the case.
The special investigation team (SIT) recorded the woman’s statement for about eight hours on Tuesday when she appeared before the officer of DSP (east) Palak Goel in Sector 26 police station.
Talking to the media, the woman claimed that she was offered Rs 1 crore to leave the country, and “forget about case”, The Indian Express reported.
The woman — accompanied by two advocates representing her —said she had been cooperating with the police since the probe started, adding that she will fight till she gets justice.
She also said that the minister Sandeep Sigh, who allegedly offered her Rs 1 crore, is still part of the government.
The woman coach submitted her mobile phone to the SIT, in order for the investigators to retrieve data shared between her and Sandeep Singh.
The former Olympian is facing charges of stalking, illegal confinement, sexual harassment and criminal intimidation in a FIR registered at the Sector 26 police station on Saturday night.
After initially calling the allegations as baseless, Singh resigned from the sports portfolio.
