Will stand with the family until they get justice: Rahul Gandhi visits Delhi gang-rape victim's family
text_fieldsNew Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday visited the family of the nine-year-old Dalit girl who was allegedly gang raped, murdered and forcibly cremated in the South West Delhi Sunday evening.
"I spoke with the family... they want justice and nothing else. They're saying justice is not being given to them and that they should be helped. We will do that. I said 'I am standing with you. Rahul Gandhi is standing with them until they get justice'," said Rahul Gandhi.
"Her parents' tears are saying only one thing - their daughter, the daughter of this country, deserves justice. And I am with them on this path of justice," he added.
Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal also met the victim's family and announced financial compensation of ₹ 10 lakh for them.
"I met her parents. Her loss can't be compensated... but Delhi government will provide ₹ 10 lakhs compensation and will order magisterial inquiry... we will appoint top lawyers so culprits get strict punishment," said Mr Kejriwal to the reporters after the meeting.
Meanwhile, Ingit Pratap Singh, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (South East Delhi), commented that the postmortem was inconclusive and that the four accused, including the priest, will be made to undergo a lie detector and drug tests, as reported by NDTV.

The senior cop also told NDTV, that the forensic examination results of the water cooler found an electric current, validating the statement of the accused, who said the death occured due to electrocution.The police officer said that test are being conducted on the accused's clothes for conclusive evidence.
Meanwhile, Delhi Commission for Women has launched an inquiry and summoned the police.
The Police have arrested the four accused, including the priest, and filed charges under sections on child sex abuse and crimes against scheduled castes and tribes.Further investigation into the crime is ongoing, police have said.
