Will comeback in LS elections: K'taka CM Bommai concedes defeat

Haveri: Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has conceded defeat in the Assembly elections even as the final announcement of the election results was awaited on Saturday.
Bommai said that the BJP will comeback in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. "We will come back in Lok Sabha elections," he said.
Speaking to reporters at Haveri, he said, "We have not been able to make the mark in the elections in spite of a lot of efforts put up by everybody right from our Prime Minister to workers. Congress was able to make the mark. We will sit for analysis once the results are announced. As a national political party, we will analyse and identify the gaps and deficiencies and improve upon them."
"We take this result in our stride and reorganise the party and we will comeback in the Lok Sabha elections," CM Bommai stated.
"...We respect and accept the verdict. We will contribute to our state and our people as a constructive Opposition...", said Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar.
Congress has zoomed past Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) as per the latest reports, in Karnataka assembly election result 2023 and is now doing exceedingly well. The grand old party has crossed the majority mark of 113 seats in early trends and is now leading in 117 constituencies.
The party workers have started celebrating in Delhi as the party maintains lead. The party has also called a legislators' party meet at 12 noon tomorrow, asking all MLAs to reach Bangalore tomorrow.
Karnataka voted in a single phase on Wednesday and recorded a 73.19 per cent voter turnout according to reports. While the Chikkaballapura district recorded the highest voting percentage with 85.56 percent, state capital Bengaluru's southern division recorded the lowest of 52.33 percent.
