Bangalore: Hindu Sena chief Pramod Muthalik threatened that his outfits would chop off hands of those taking down the posters of Veer Savarkar put up across the state.

The Rashtriya Hindu Sena, the parent organisation of the Sri Ram Sena, decided to display posters of the rightwing ideologue in Karnataka.

The Hindu Sena leader said the outfit would ensure Savarkar's contributions were highlighted in every nook and corner, according to India Today.

Muthalik said that Sarvakar was not against Muslims but the British, dedicating 23 years of his life for the nation; the Hindu Sena leaders warned that if any Muslim or Congress worker touches the posters of Savarkar Hindu Sena will chop off their hands.

Rakesh Ramamurthy, President of Hindu Mahasabha Gauri Ganesha Seva Samiti, said the outfit included photos of Bal Gangadhar Tilak and Veer Savarkar on the Ganesh Chaturthi festival flex.

He also said that a few miscreants were opposing it but "we" are not bothered about it.

The rightwing outfits in the state decided to display in Ganesh pandals for ten days from August 31 the photos of Vinayak Damodar Savarkar and freedom fighter Bal Gangadhar Tilak.

Pramod Muthalik said that Savarkar's and Tilak's photos will be put up in at least 15,000 venues in the state, paying tribute to "these iconic freedom fighters".
