Will bulldoze homes of those behind crimes against women if BJP comes to power: Telangana state chief
text_fieldsHyderabad: Bandi Sanjay Kumar, the Telangana Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief said on Wednesday that if the BJP comes to power in the state, the houses of anyone who resorts to murder and rape of women would be bulldozed.
His remarks came during his speech at the BJP Mahila Morcha state executive committee meeting at the party headquarters.
‘If the BJP comes to power in the state, it would pull down the houses of people who resort to murders and rapes of women using bulldozers on the lines of the Uttar Pradesh government’, he said.
‘Chief minister K Chandrashekhar Rao had earlier warned of plucking the eyes of those who perpetrated atrocities against women. But it turned out to be just empty talk. There is no security for women and girls belonging to SCs and STs,’ said Sanjay.
Referring to the Warangal suicide case of PG medico, Dr Preethi, he hit back at Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, saying that it was a ‘murder’ committed by the government. He said that the government failed to act on time despite a complaint filed by Preethi’s father against her senior for harassment.
‘Right from the Jubilee Hills rape case to the death of Dr Preethi, there have been several such incidents. Unfortunately, KCR doesn’t respond or react to even a single incident,” he said adding that KCR was in support of ‘one community’.
Sanjay was referring to the main accused in the case, Dr Preethi’s senior, Dr Mohammad Saif. He had earlier referred to the case as a clear case of ‘Love Jihad’.
The BJP state chief also took a jibe at the chief minister and his daughter BRS leader K Kavitha saying ‘For KCR, only his daughter Kavitha represents the entire womenfolk and her organisation has been garnering all the funds’. said the BJP state chief.
The national president of Mahila Morcha, Vanathi Srinivasan, followed suit by echoing similar sentiments about Kavitha. ‘For the chief minister of Telangana, the empowerment of women only means the empowerment of his daughter. But for BJP, the empowerment of each woman is the true empowerment”, she said.
Sanjay claimed that the BJP government at the centre was instrumental in making an ST woman the president of India and in appointing a woman finance minister besides inducting 12 women ministers in the Union Cabinet, eight women governors and four chief ministers during the Modi regime.
He said that housing under PMAY and LPG connections are being given only in the name of women and that about 30 crore toilets were built to uphold the self-respect of women across the country.
He added that the women will be able to live with respect and dignity only if BJP comes to power.
Sanjay also spoke about YSR Telangana Party (YSRTP) leader Y S Sharmila during the event. ‘It is highly unfortunate that the BRS leaders are abusing women leaders like Y S Sharmila in filthy language. This is against ancient Indian culture, which calls for respecting women like mothers and sisters. A true Indian never insults womenfolk.’
