Thrissur: A complaint has been lodged here alleging that BJP approached the complainants and offered them money to vote for the party's candidate, Suresh Gopi. Two women voters from the Thrissur Lok Sabha Constituency surfaced with the petition, alleging that a local BJP leader, Subhash, met the complainants at home and offered them money, but they refused.

The complainants allege that the person who offered them money left the scene when they noticed people were crowding the spot. However, the district administration of BJP reacted by saying that other political parties were behind these false allegations since they were sure about their defeat. He claimed that the BJP had no role in the alleged incident.

Thrissur, where a triangular contest was expected earlier among Left Democratic Front (LDF), United Democratic Front (UDF) and the National Democratic Alliance (NDA)- led by BJP, the contest has kind of shrank to UDF and LDF. Now, both LDF and UDF view the fresh allegation very seriously.
