Two teachers have been arrested in the Kallakuruchi suicide case in Tamil Nadu. So far, five teachers and officials have been taken into custody in the case.

A Class 12 student in Tamil Nadu's Kallakurichi died by suicide after alleged torture by teachers. The cause of death as mentioned in the first autopsy was multiple injuries and hemorrhage.

According to police officials, "the deceased girl died by suicide on Tuesday night on the school premises and there was a note found in which it was alleged that two teachers from the school tortured her forcing them to study all the time." The case was further registered under section 174 of unnatural death.

On Monday, the chemistry teacher of the school, Haripriya, and the mathematics teacher, Kritika, were arrested. Earlier, three management officials of the school, including the Principal and the secretary, were arrested.

The alleged suicide of the Class 12 student has created unrest in Tamil Nadu's Salem district. Protestors torched school buses and police vehicles, injuring several police officials on Sunday.

As per reports, over 500 people gathered at the school to protest and seek justice over the death of the Class 12 student. However, it turned violent when the protesters started stone-pelting and setting school buses on fire. They even vandalized the school's property.

Appealing for peace, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin tweeted, "Violence worries me. The accused will be punished when the police probe over the school girl's death ends. I have asked DGP, Home Secretary to travel to Kallakurichi. I request people to maintain peace."
