Jamshedpur: The communal tensions in connection with Ram Navami still continue to happen in the country, with the latest in Jamshedpur’s Kadma where violence between two communities erupted after a Ram Navami flag was allegedly found desecrated on Sunday evening.

The recent tension occurred when members of a local organization reported finding a piece of meat rolled into a Ram Navami flag, which triggered violence. The police reported that bricks were pelted, makeshift shops were set ablaze, and a few vehicles were also burned by the mob.

However, locals alleged that the police did not act proactively, despite prohibitory orders and internet shutdowns in the area. The tension had been simmering since the desecration of a Ram Navami flag a week earlier, with a peace committee meeting between the communities failing to resolve the issue.

On Sunday evening, violence erupted when a shop was gutted and an autorickshaw was set on fire, resulting in brick-batting from both sides. Tear gas shells were fired by the police to control the situation. While the SSP East Singhbhum claimed that everything was "under control," Jharkhand DGP Ajay Singh promised to investigate any negligence by the police.

East Singhbhum District Deputy Commissioner Vijaya Jadhav urged citizens to cooperate and maintain peace, with the police taking strict measures to maintain law and order.

Earlier on March 31, stone-pelting occurred during a Ram Navami procession, leading to four FIRs being registered. The unauthorized route taken by the procession through the Haldipokhar area was the cause of the unrest.
