Republic TV journalist Priyanka Dutt resigned, alleging hypocrisy by the channel over its stance on the stray dog issue in Delhi on August 13.

In a widely shared video, Dutt is seen tearing up her ID card and criticising the network, saying she feared possible pressure or coercion from it in the future. She recalled how a senior colleague often told her about donating ₹20 lakh to an animal shelter and praised the work of animal activists.

Her resignation came shortly after the Supreme Court, on August 11, ordered the relocation of all stray dogs in Delhi-NCR to shelters, citing long-standing administrative failures to address the problem.

The Delhi government, MCD, and NDMC were instructed to remove stray dogs from all areas to ensure public safety, especially for vulnerable groups like children, the elderly, and visually impaired individuals, Siasat reported.

The ruling sparked strong protests from animal rights activists in the capital. In response, Chief Justice of India BR Gavai said he would review the order. A bench of Justices Vikram Nath, Sandeep Mehta, and N V Anjaria is scheduled to hear the case on August 14.
