Pune: Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi (VBA) chief Prakash Ambedkar was admitted to a Pune hospital in the early hours of Thursday after experiencing chest pain, according to his party. The VBA has requested that the privacy of the Dalit leader’s family should be respected during this time.

Balasaheb (Prakash) Ambedkar, who is 70 and the grandson of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) where he is being treated for a blood clot in his heart, VBA officials stated. His condition is reported to be stable, and an angiography procedure is scheduled for him within the next hour.

The party has indicated that Ambedkar will remain under observation for 3-5 days, allowing for careful monitoring of his health. In light of his hospitalization, VBA state president Rekha Tai Thakur will oversee the party’s campaign activities for the ongoing assembly election. Thakur will be supported by the VBA's election coordination committee, manifesto committee, and media and research departments to ensure continuity.

The family has expressed their desire for privacy and asked no questions be directed toward them at this time, as they focus on Ambedkar’s health and recovery.
