Varun Gandhi claims he is the only MP with guts to raise people's issues

Bareilly: Varun Gandhi claimed that it is only he who demands a raise in Minimum Support Price (MSP) on Sugar cane, and the rest of the MPs have no guts to do the same. While addressing villagers here on Tuesday, the BJP MP further claimed that other BJP MPs fear that they will not get party tickets in polls, and that is why they keep mum, PTI reported.

The MP from Pilibhit asked if the representatives are not raising people's problems, who else will raise them for them. He said that he does not care whether he will get a party ticket since his mother has won Lok Sabha elections from Pilibhit, independently contesting in 1998 & 1999. He said that governments might come and go, but he will only tell the truth.

Varun Gandhi said that he is a revolutionary leader and thus could not shut his eyes when injustice is done on people. He claimed that all the help he extends to his people, such as providing sports equipment for youngsters, financial assistance to temples etc., are from his own money.

Meanwhile, he wrote to Pilibhit District Magistrate notifying him that traders at the "Baansuri Festival" here are being subjected to extortion. He had shared his letter with the media, but the magistrate has not responded yet.

The traders reportedly alleged that the district administration had taken money from them to organise the fest. In his letter, he mentioned that traders are already hit by Covid-19 and GST, so taking their money is atrocious.

However, Varun Gandhi has offered Rs 4.5 lakh to the traders. He told them that he was against organising the fest out of extorted money from traders.
