Bhopal: A coach of Vande Bharat train heading from Madhya Pradesh capital Bhopal to New Delhi’s Hazrat Nizamuddin Terminal caught fire at Kurwai Kethora station on Monday morning.

No casualties were reported in the incident as the blaze was immediately brought under control.

The 22 passengers in the coach were speedily evacuated and shifted to other coaches.

The fire broke out in the battery box of C-12 coach, according to Indian Railway.

Some railway staffers noticed the fire at around 6.45 am, following which the Rani Kamalapati - Hazrat Nizamuddin Vande Bharat train was immediately stopped between Kurwai and Kaithora stations in Vidisha district of Madhya Pradesh, an official said.

“Fire brigade reached the site on time and fire extinguished at 07:58 am,” the official added.
