Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat in a press conference announced that seven bodies have been recovered following the glacier burst in the Tapovan area of Joshimath in Uttarakhand's Chamoli district which damaged the Rishiganga damn on Alaknanda river. About 125 labourers employed at the Rishiganga power project are feared missing, he informed.

High alert has been announced in all districts and people have been warned against wandering near the Ganga river. The CM also announced financial assistance of Rs 4 lakhs for the kin of those killed in the calamity. Rescue work is ongoing and expected to occur through the night.
