New Delhi: Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh faced unemployed youths disrupting the poll campaign speech he was about to start in Uttar Pradesh's Gonda district. Army job aspirants at stands before the stage raised slogans demanding recruitment defence, NDTV reported.

Youths raised slogans of "Sena bharti chalu karo!" (Initiate recruitment in Army), "hamari maange poori karo!" (fulfil our demand).

However, Minister tried to pacify the group saying that their demands would be met. He said their worries are governments, too and explained that there were difficulties because of the pandemic.

Meanwhile, BJP's Punjab chief Ashwini Sharma said that his statement was wrongly interpreted. In a video that surfaced recently, he had been seen saying that if people are not voting for BJP, they should vote for Congress but never Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). But Sharma has come up now saying that his words were "twisted", NDTV reported.

He had said that a vote for AAP means voting for terrorism and to break Punjab. People voting for AAP is betraying the country as well as Punjab.

Now he explains through his clarifying video that spreading falsehood is one of Congress tactics, and that is what happened in twisting his words. Both Congress and AAP are dangerous for Punjab, he said and called for vote for BJP to keep the state safe as well as developed.

UP's third phase of assembly elections is scheduled on Sunday, with 59 assembly seats across 16 districts going to the polls. The Karhal Assembly where Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav is contesting is also included in tomorrow's polls. Meanwhile, Punjab is heading to the polls on the day with 117 assembly seats.
