Prayagraj (Uttar Pradesh): The Uttar Pradesh police has arranged a floating police chowki ( post) as a large number of devotees continued to pour in at the bank of Triveni Sangam, the scared confluence of rivers Ganga, Yamuna and 'mystical' Saraswati, ANI reported.

The police post will come to the assistance of devotees when they are in need with the 45-day-long Maha Kumbh commencing on Monday.

A grainy image of the police post showed a huge boat size facility in the river with uniformed officials standing guard.

Prayagraj saw huge number of devotees converging at Triveni Sangam for the 'Shahi Snan' on the auspicious occasion of Paush Purnima with devotees taking holy dip and performing the sacred rituals.

Giving a thumbs-up to arrangements for the events, one devotee Vijay Kumar said that ‘There is an arrangement for everything - for food and accommodation... the roads are also good.’

Dubbed as the largest spiritual gathering in the world, Maha Kumbha Mela this year is special from the rare celestial alignment occurring only once in 144 years.

Traffic Police authorities put in place a detailed plan for vehicular movement and safety for devotees.

Railway Board Chairman Satish Kumar was quoted as saying: ‘A lot of attention has been paid to the infrastructure of the railway stations. We have built new stations. We will run around 13,000 trains including the special and regular trains. This time 10,000 regular and 3,000 special trains will run.’

Celebrating after 12 years, the Maha Kumbh will see over 45 crore devotees pouring in from all over the world with the events to conclude on February 26.
