Bharatpur/ Uttarakhand: A BJP leader, BJP leader Gurtaj Singh Bhullar, in Uttarakhand's Uddham Singh Nagar district, claimed that a team of Uttar Pradesh Police barged into his house and shot his wife dead. He alleged that the team was in plain clothes, intoxicated, covered the number plates of their cars, barged into his house without any search warrant or identity cards and used abusive language against him and his family before firing at his wife. Also, the team had no woman personnel with them, Bhullar alleged, The Indian Express reported.

It was two days ago, the unfortunate incident of Gurpreet, the wife of the Bhullar, being shot dead during a raid by the UP police. The UP Police maintain that the woman died in cross-fire. They raided the Bhullar's house in search of a man, Jaffar, accused of illegal sand mining, whom Bhullar and his family lodged at their house. UP Police claimed the team had the cross-fire with Jaffar at Bhullar's house. But the BJP leader alleges that UP Police brewed up the story.

Also, a day ago, Uttarakhand informed that the UP troops did not notify the local police and were not in uniform, while the forensic department suggested that there was no evidence of a cross-fire from the site.

Bhullar alleged that the police team forced and entered their house and started searching. While they were entering the first floor, he was trying to stop them and suggesting they contact the local police. The team refused, used abusive language and while he was trying to reason with them, bringing some of them downstairs, one of the members shot his wife, who was in the first floor, along with other family members. The man fired multiple rounds, and one of them hit Gurpreet.

Bhullar said after that, his wife was declared brought-dead at a hospital, while four of the team who the villagers caught while escaping fled the hospital unnoticed after they were brought for a medical examination. Bhullar said they were aware that if the examination had been conducted, it would have proven that they were drunk.

Uttarakhand police stated that one of their police personnel took the caught-four to the hospital because they were injured and needed treatment, but they overpowered him.

Bhullar further said that he has no acquaintanceship with Jaffar. When Jaffar approached Bhullar, through Bhullar's brother-in-law- also a BJP leader- claiming that UP Police was framing a fake illegal mining case against him. Jaffar just sought his help in the fake case.

Bhullar lamented that now he is left with two children, a five-year-old daughter and a four-month-old son, to manage them without their mother.

When TIE asked him about the criminal cases registered against him and his family members, he said that the cases were 10-12 years old, and they were proven not guilty.

He also said that he was with BJP for a long and that both Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh were ruled by the party. He asked if he was not been served with justice, who would.
