Muzaffarnagar/UP: A shocking video emerged from Uttar Pradesh’s Muzaffarnagar district shows a man trying to strangle his wife after she disclosed to him about a rape, NDTV reported.

The woman reportedly claimed that brother -in-law had allegedly raped her on April 2 when her husband was away.

When he returned home, the woman shared with him what happened only to receive a callous response from him.

The man reportedly told her: ‘You are no longer my wife. You are my sister-in-law now.’

A day later her husband attempted to strangle her with a dupatta, just as the brother-in-law recorded it on his mobile phone, she reportedly said.

Adding to her shock, the man who raped her shot the video, she reportedly said.

The footage showed the man sitting atop her chest and trying to strangle her.

After the video emerged, police registered a case under sections 376 (rape), 307 (attempt to murder), and 328 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against the accused ones at Khatauli Kotwali police station.

The Superintendent of Police Satyanarayan Prajapati said that efforts are underway to arrest both the accused.
