UP: 7-yr-old dies after falling through school bus floor; 2 arrested
text_fieldsAligarh: The manager and bus driver of a private school were arrested on Monday after a seven-year-old girl died after falling through a large hole in the floor of a school bus, police said.
The incident took place on Saturday when the private school bus was travelling along a rural road in the Gangiri area of Aligarh.
According to the girl’s family, they had previously raised complaints about the hole in the bus floor, but their concerns were allegedly ignored by both the school authorities and the driver.
Based on a complaint filed by the victim’s family on Sunday, police registered a case and arrested the school manager, Arvind Yadav, and the bus driver, Chandraprakash, on charges of criminal negligence, a police spokesperson said.
In their complaint, the family alleged that despite repeated objections regarding the damaged bus floor, the school authorities and driver continued to transport young children in the vehicle, making the fatal accident “inevitable”.
Police said an investigation into the incident is currently underway.
