Unnao rape survivor’s house torched by accused; infant son, sister fight for life
text_fieldsUnnao: A man in UP’s Unnao is arrested for setting ablaze the house of the Dalit girl he is accused of raping.
As the house was attacked on Monday evening, the rape victim’s infant son and her two-month-old sister were critically injured.
A senior medical officer was quoted as saying that the rape victim's infant son sustained 35 per cent burns while her sister had 45 per cent burns.
Police reportedly said that the Dalit girl was gang-raped by two men on February 13, 2022, and she gave birth to a son in September.
The son was conceived when the 11-year-old was sexually assaulted.
"As their condition worsened, both the kids were sent to Kanpur for better treatment," PTI quoted chief medical superintendent Sushil Srivastava as saying.
The girl’s house was attacked after she reportedly refused to withdraw the case against the accused.
However, the Dalit rape survivor's mother alleged the attack was meant to kill her daughter's infant son.
The two accused in the rape case, who were recently out on bail, stormed into the family's house with five other men, according to India Today.
The men beat up the rape victim’s mother before they went head setting the thatched shed on fire.
Meanwhile, Circle Officer Santosh Singh reportedly said the rape victim’s grandfather and uncle attacked her father with an axe and seriously injured after he had sided with the rape accused. The minor Dalit girl was raped by two of these men last year.
