Noida: An unemployed man in Uttar Pradesh’s Noida has been served notices for huge tax evasion on his returns from his two companies.

Devendra Kumar from Bulandshahr, who has been unemployed for many months, received a notice in March that said he owed the government Rs 24.61 lakh in GST.

In April another notice to him said he owned another company with a turnover of over of Rs 1.16 crore, according to The Indian Express.

Kumar approached Gautam Buddha Nagar police expressing suspicion that the contractors of the company where he previously worked must have misused his documents to set up these firms.

Still reeling from the shock, Kumar told the newspaper that he worked as a labourer for a township project in Naraura earning Rs 300 per day.

‘How can I be owner of these two firms under such circumstances?’, Kumar, who had already spent Rs 40,000 to get FIR registered, asked.

When he took up the matter with them, officials kept scuttling him from one office to another from Ghaziabad to Noida to Bulandshahr costing him a lot in travel expense alone.

While working with a company two years ago in Noida as a packing helper, the contractor had taken his Aadhaar and Pan card for salary.

Police said that a team is formed to probe the matter as Noida sector 63 police station registered a case under IPC sections 420 (cheating) and 467, 468, 471, all dealing with forgery.
