Uncertainty over cabinet reshuffle looms on Karnataka BJP

Bengaluru: Political analysts in the state continue guessing at a reshuffle of ministers, creating a foggy uncertainty over the surmised change of guards in the government.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah's visit to the state on May 3 had done little to clear the clouds over speculations on reshuffle; instead there emerged the idea of a 'wholesale' change in the Cabinet.
Former Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa set May 10 as the day for possible Cabinet change without removing the incumbent chief minister, according to The Indian Express.
It was expected that following PM Modi's Europe tour, the state leadership would be informed of the central leadership's decision on reshuffle.
BJP leaders in the state reportedly said they had not received any information regarding the Cabinet reshuffle.
Aides of ministers said a few ministers deferred their travels plans anticipating changes in the Cabinet, according to The Indian Express.
The Cabinet has five openings to reach the quota of 34 ministers and the party is planning to introduce fresh blood ahead of the 2023 state polls.
During Amit Shah's visit many speculated that Chief Minister would be changed.
The CM is scheduled to travel to London and Davos from May 18 to 26 and has reportedly obtained a clearance from the BJP leadership, the report said.
Bommai on Sunday held discussions with Union Minister Pralhad Joshi during his visit to Bengaluru. Joshi reportedly was the link between Bommai and BJP central leadership.
Since Shah's visit, Bommai has holding meetings with state officials to implement schemes proposed in a Budget he presented last month.
The former chief minister Yediyurappa, who is keen on bringing son BY Vijayendra to fore, travelled to Dubai to attend a meeting of Lingayat community.
Vijayendra organised a massive Lingayat rally attended by Amit Shah in April on the birth anniversary of Lingayat seer Shivalinga Sway of the Siddaganga Mutt.
The Lingayat community is considered to be central to BJP's success in the state, according to the report.
