Jaipur: An NIA court sent the four arrestees of the Udaipur-tailor-murder case to ten days of police custody on Saturday, PTI reported.

"The court ordered police remand till July 12," a lawyer said.

The four were produced to the court in Jaipur within tight security.

Outside the court, many lawyers shouted slogans like "Pakistan Murdabad" and "Give Death Sentence To Kanhaiya's Killers." A group of lawyers also tried to attack the accused while they were being taken back into a police vehicle.

Two of the arrestees, Riaz Akhtari and Ghouse Mohammad, were nabbed by the police on Tuesday, hours past the murder of Udaipur tailor Kanhaiya Lal, who was killed with a cleaver at his own shop. The heinous incident was filmed by the murderers, and they gloated on their act in the footage, which surfaced on social media. The killers claimed that they did the crime to avenge the insult to Islam.

The two others in the gang, Mohsin and Asif, were arrested on Thursday night.

Meanwhile, the Rajasthan government on Friday night suspended Udaipur, Additional Superintendent of Police Ashok Meena. The suspension order issued by the Joint Secretary (Police) of the home department, Jagveer Singh, does not mention any reason for the action. However, it is believed that he was suspended for negligence in the tailor's murder.

Another incident of suspected revenge also cropped up in Maharashtra as a 54-year-old chemist was killed in the Amravati district in the state on June 21, precisely a week before the Udaipur tailor's murder. It is believed that the chemist Umesh Prahladaro Kolhe was killed for his alleged support for Nupur Sharma. Five people were arrested in the case based on a complaint by the victim's son and an initial investigation. The arrestees were identified as Muddsir Ahmed (22), Shahrukh Pathan (25), Abdul Thoufik (24), Shoaib Khan (22) and Atib Rashid (22).
