Two tribals lynched in Madhya Pradesh on suspicion of cow smuggling
text_fieldsTwo tribals suspected of cow smuggling were lynched by mobs in the Seoni district of Madhya Pradesh. Another tribal ended up with serious injuries. Congress alleged that Bajrang Dal activists were involved in the incident.
The mob arrived at Simaria village under the Kurai police station after receiving information about alleged cow smuggling in the area. They attacked the alleged persons on Monday night.
The tribal community blocked National Highway 44 in protest and authorities provide justice for the deaths. The protestors demanded a compensation of Rs one crore for the victims' families and jobs for the next of kin. The administration tried to pacify the tribals but failed. The protest caused a massive traffic jam of several kilometres on both sides of the road.
Congress MLA from Kurai, Arjun Makodia and his supporters joined the tribals in their protest. Makodia said this is nothing but 'jungle raj'.
State Congress President Kamal Nath said the brutal murder of two tribal youth is saddening. He also spoke of the involvement of the Bajrang Dal and demanded a high-level inquiry into the incident.
Mob lynching over cow smuggling or suspicions of the same has become increasingly common in India. Cow vigilantes demand that the protection of the animal should be a right for Hindus.
