Two Muslim men were allegedly lynched by a mob on suspicion of cattle theft near Bagdogra in West Bengal’s Darjeeling district on Saturday, while three others were injured after the mob set their pickup van on fire.

The deceased have been identified as Shahid Akhtar, a resident of Chopra in Uttar Dinajpur district, and Sajjad Mohammad, who was from Haryana, the Hindustan Times reported, quoting Siliguri Additional Commissioner of Police Anirban Majumdar.

The injured men were identified as Amir Sattar, Akram Khan and Arif Khan. All three are residents of Haryana.
