New Delhi: Two men in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad have been arrested for killing their sister over her relationship with a man belonging to another community.

They allegedly choked the woman to death and threw her body in a canal in Ghaziabad, NDTV reported citing police.

The body has not been recovered yet, even as a team of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has been searching the canal.

The crime came to light when police questioned two men during patrol in Muradnagar Saturday evening.

Police grilled the men after they mumbled over the question where they were coming from, raising suspicion.

The two men, identified as Sufiyan and his cousin Mahtab, revealed that they had choked their sister to death and thrown the body in Gangnahar canal.

Police have taken them into custody for more details, before searching the canal for the body.

The suspects said that their sister Sheeba stayed in Delhi with relatives.

Sufiyan, who is a native of Roorkee in Uttarkhand and Mahtab, his uncle’s son living in Muzaffarnagar, were against Sheeba's relationship with a man from another community.

The two men took her to the Ghaziabad canal before killing her and throwing her body into the water, the report said citing police.

Police have recovered from the canal Sheeba's clothes, sandals and the gamcha that was used to choke her.
