Two communities clash in Jodhpur, internet suspended

Jaipur: A few policemen got injured and internet services suspended in Jalori Gate area in Jodhpur after members of two communities clashed on Monday night.
Jodhpur is home district of Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot.
Clashes over hoisting a flag on a freedom fighter's statue in the area ended up in stone pelting, according to The Indian Express.
It all triggered at 11.pm on Monday after some flags were hoisted to mark Parashuram Jayanti, which falls on the day of Eid.
Additional Director General (Law and Order) Hawa Singh Ghumaria said that flags of Lord Parashuram were put near the area where Muslims offered namaaz.
There ensued dispute over removing the flags as the local Muslim community put up a flag on the occasion of Eid, Hawa Singh Ghumaria added.
The cops reportedly intervened as the area was close to the Eidgah which could likely have large gathering to offer namaaz.
Police wouldn't allow the crowd near the place and as they were dispersing the crowd, tension escalated leading to stone pelting, according to the report.
The official says that the situation is under control and internet services have been suspended in Jodhpur.
Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot tweeted that clashes between two groups was unfortunate and he had instructed the administration to maintain peace in the area.
He appealed both sides to maintain peace, urging them to respect the tradition of love and brotherhood in Jodhpur
