Twitter restrictions for Kangana Ranaut after "beheading" tweet
text_fieldsTwitter has issued a temporary restriction to Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut after she made a tweet insinuating that the makers of the controversial web series 'Tandav' should be beheaded.
The now-deleted tweet reads: "Because even Lord Krishna forgave 99 mistakes of Sheshupala...pehle Shanti phir Kranti...time to take their heads off...Jai Shri Krishan."
While there was a widespread backlash against the tweet, Kangana later clarified that she had not called for a beheading, with her fans saying the tweet had been taken at face value when it was an idiom for "berating" someone severely.
Kangana also took to Twitter to inform her followers of the Twitter restrictions and claimed there was a conspiracy to get her suspended from the virtual world.
"If they suspend me will exit virtual world and in real world will show you real Kangana Ranaut- the mother of all fathers #babbarsherni." the actress wrote.
The controversy over the web series led to maker Ali Abbas Zafar apologising on Twitter and reiterating that it was a "work of fiction". Saif Ali Khan has also been given extra security due to threats over having acted in the series and several BJP leaders have written to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting in order to call for censorship of OTT content.
