Shakthi man and BR Chopra's Mahabharat serials fame Mukesh Khanna faced criticism from netizens for his misogynistic remarks on #MeToo movement in India. The remarks were made by him in a video clip that has been circulating on social media recently.

The points made by him are now being circulating as a viral video clip in social media "Aurat ka kaam hai ghar sambhalna, jo maaf karna mein kabhi kabhi bol bhi jata hu,("The job of the women is to take care of the house), Problem kaha se shuru hue hai #MeToo ki jab aurato ne bhi kaam karna shuru kar diya (The problem of MeToo began when women started working), Aaj aurat mard ke saath kandhey se kandha milani ke baat karti hai. (Today women talking about walking shoulder to shoulder with women;).

A twitter user said "#MeToo movement began when women showed guts and talked about the harassment that they face everyday from morons. By the way a woman can also be harassed by her family member inside her house. He must apologize for his comment".

While another user tweeted that "Such disgusting opinions can't hide the miserable flaws of the mentality of our society. Brutal rapes and molestation are the main injustices done to women. In whole it's women's personal choice to work or not. Mukesh Khanna is answerable to society"

Netizens slammed the actor's controversial view point on women and #MeToo campaign, that gathered sharp momentum in India by October 2018 in the entertainment industry of Bollywood.

The social movement kick started against sexual abuse and sexual harassment mainly at work places against women committed by powerful men. Many women celebrities and media personalities have been getting involved in #MeToo campaign since 2018.

Netizens called actor's statement as "attention seeking words reek of desperation" and warned media against "normalizing sexist men".
