New Delhi: Union Minister of Transport Nitin Gadkari on Tuesday lavished praise on the movie 'The Kashmir Files.

The film brought out true history of the valley and would be remembered for long, he said at an event organised by Global Kashmir Diaspora for felicitating the movie crew, IANS reported.

Congratulating the director Vivek Agnihotri, Gadkari said that the movie would awaken the conscience of everyone.

"Our past history and culture teaches us in best way in the present," he said, adding that the study of the past in the present times would give us a vision and ideology for future building.

The true picture of the history, according to him, was not presented to people owing to various reasons. But truth could not be concealed, he added.

The minister said that Agnihotri had done a commendable work by bringing out the truth history offering a new way to the new generation.

"What Agnihotri has depicted in his film, there is one more historical truth that if any country has 51 per cent population of fundamentalists, there will be no democracy, no socialism and no secularism. Tolerance is the main feature of Indian culture and traditions which can be felt while watching the movie," Union Minister Gadkari was quoted as saying.

Though 'secularism' is the epicenter of post-independence, true meaning of secularism, he said, is justice for all and appeasement of none.

Agnihotri and his team have effectively presented the true picture of injustices that Kashmiri Pandits have been victims of, he added.
