Trial of India-made high-speed UAV successfully conducted by DRDO
text_fieldsNew Delhi: With the successful completion of a flight trial of the Autonomous Flying Wing Technology Demonstrator, a high-speed UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) from the Aeronautical Test Range located in the Karnataka city of Chitradurga, India achieved yet another significant advancement in improving its aerial capabilities on Saturday.
The vehicle's tailless configuration, which was tested by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), enables India to join a select group of nations that have mastered the controls for flying wing technology, Indian Express reported.
According to a press release, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh expressed gratitude to the DRDO, the Armed Forces, and the Industry for the system's successful flight trial. According to Singh, the Armed Forces will be considerably strengthened if these vital technologies are successfully developed indigenously.
The press announcement states that the Aeronautical Development Establishment of DRDO is responsible for the design and development of the UAV.
The statement emphasised that six flight trials in various developmental configurations were conducted utilising two in-house made prototypes after the aircraft's maiden flight demonstration in July 2022.
As per the announcement, Dr Samir V Kamat, the Chairman of DRDO and Secretary of Defence R&D, congratulated the team and the organisation for the successful flight experiment.
