Panaji: The Goan Minister for Town and Country Planning (TCP) Vishwajit Rane has urged people to put as much effort as possible to catch corrupt officials and added that it is the need of the hour, IANS reported.

Rane said in his video message that he is going to launch a special number dedicated to restricting corruption in the TCP ministry and the Forrest Department, which also comes under him.

"Nobody (should) take bribes, and nothing will be entertained in any of my departments. Go all out, no problem. You can use your phones, you can use whatever mechanism you want if you feel somebody is trying to exploit you and expose such people. This is the need of the hour," Rane said.

"I am going to share a phone number where you can complain about corruption, record (the) voices of people and share it on social media. There will be fear for everybody. Whether it is a person from public life or he is a person on any other front," Rane, the second most senior minister in the cabinet after Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, said.

Rane said that if a person tries to take a bribe, then people should make sure that they trap the person and expose them, adding that the minister will be very strict.

Meanwhile, Goa's Town and Country Planning Ministry was marred with many controversies related to graft, particularly for large scale conversion of agricultural land into residential plots.
