Transfer of land for public purposes approved in Jammu and Kashmir
text_fieldsThe Jammu and Kashmir Administrative Council (AC) approved the Revenue Department's proposal to transfer various parcels of land for public purposes in the region. The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha.
The transfer of land measuring six-kanal in favour of the Jal Shakti Department was approved today. The construction of an overhead tank/rapid sand filtration plant/pump-cum-operator quarter and establishment of the PHE division office, Pulwama are under the scheme.
Another transfer of land measuring 80-kanal in Bandipora district to the Housing and Urban Development Department (H&UDD) for establishing dumping sites for solid waste management was also approved by the Council. Scientific disposal of solid waste is intended to boost public health by reducing pollution. It is part of the vision of litter-free Jammu and Kashmir.
The AC also approved the waiver/exemption of fifty percent (50%) of passenger tax chargeable on various vehicles from April 1, 2021, to March 31, 2022. It will address the genuine demand of the operators of commercial transport.
Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar, advisor to the lieutenant governor; Dr Arun Kumar Mehta, chief secretary of J&K; and Nitishwar Kumar, Principal secretary to the lieutenant governor attended the meeting.
