Raiganj: The Trinamool Congress government in West Bengal allowed Rohingya Muslims and infiltrators to change the demography of the state, Prime Minister Narendra Modi alleged on Tuesday. He claimed that corruption and crime have turned into a "full-time business in the state under Mamata Banerjee-led party's government, PTI reported.

Addressing a poll campaign rally in Raiganj, he further said that TMC is opposing CAA, which intends to provide citizenship to refugees.

The PM claimed that TMC never gave permission to Ram Navami rallies but allowed the rallies to be pelted with stones.

"Under the TMC regime, corruption and crime have turned into a full-time business in Bengal. Corruption and crime are rampant in the state," he said. TMC "has permitted Rohingyas and infiltrators to change the demography of the state and create law and order problems in the state."

Last month, TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee mocked the BJP's goal of obtaining more than 400 seats in the Lok Sabha elections on Sunday and challenged the BJP to win at least 200 seats. Furthermore, Banerjee declared that she would not permit the state to implement the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). She cautioned people that applying for CAA would turn an applicant into a foreigner and urged them not to apply for it.

"The CAA is a trap to turn legal citizens into foreigners. We would allow neither CAA nor NRC in West Bengal," she said

Earlier this month, Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh claimed that no Muslim residing in India will lose their citizenship. He also charged the opposition parties with misleading the public about the Citizenship (Amendment) Act.

He stated that the BJP stands for nation-building rather than engaging in politics on the basis of caste, creed, or religion.
