New Delhi: Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev, spiritual leader and Isha Foundation founder, on Sunday responded to the allegations of animal fat found in Tirupati laddu saying that beef tallow in ‘prasadam’ was ‘beyond disgusting’.

It was Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu who on September 18 raised the allegation of animal fat having been used to make Tirupati laddus at Tirumala Venkateswara Temple in Tirupati under the watch of Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy's government.

He accused the previous government of compromising on the quality of free meals 'Annadanam' and of contaminating the sacred Tirumala Laddu adding animal fat instead of using ghee.

On his part, Sadhguru said that devotees, not governments, should run the temples, adding that without devotion there can be no sanctity.

Taking to platform X, he said devotees eating beef tallow in the temple prasadam was beyond disgusting, adding that ‘This is why Temples should be run by Devotees, not by government administrations’.

Sadguru added: ‘Where there is no Devotion, there shall be no sanctity. Time the Hindu Temples are run by devout Hindus, not by government administration.’

The controversy has been roiling since his revelations with the former Congress leader Acharya Pramod Krishnam expressing concern on Saturday, calling it a ‘very dangerous conspiracy’ targeting Sanatan Dharma.

Meanwhile, BJP's youth wing organization Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) on Sunday demanded an apology of Jagan Mohan Reddy, conducting a protest in front his residence.

Y. V. Subba Reddy, YSRCP MP and the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam's (TTD) former Chairman, claimed that only pure cow ghee and organic products were used for the 'prasadam'.
