Three women arrested in UP after beef cooked at home; case filed under cattle slaughter ban
text_fieldsLucknow: Police arrested three women in Kaushambi, Uttar Pradesh, after receiving information that beef was being cooked at a private residence, officials said. Acting on a tip-off on Wednesday, a police team raided the house and discovered meat, the police statement said. A case has been registered against the women under the Uttar Pradesh Prohibition of Cow Slaughter Act.
According to police, four men present in the house ran away through narrow lanes when officers arrived. Female police personnel prevented and detained the women as they attempted to flee. The men who escaped included the arrested women’s husbands and a neighbour; police said some of them work in Mumbai and had recently returned to the Kaushambi home. A search is ongoing for those still at large.
Officers recovered about one kilogram of raw meat and one kilogram of cooked meat from the premises. Samples of the seized meat have been sent to a forensic laboratory for testing, DSP officials said, and authorities are awaiting results.
The three women, all in their late twenties to around thirty, have been booked and produced before a court, which remanded them to judicial custody. Police said the investigation has been intensified and further arrests are possible.
