The dream of every citizen of Karnataka is my dream: Modi writes
text_fieldsNew Delhi: India will become third largest economy when Karnataka grows to be a $1 trillion economy, PM Modi said in an open letter to the people of the state.
Narendra Modi reiterated his party's commitment to Karnataka saying that during the pandemic the state received ₹ 90,000 crore as foreign investment annually under the BJP administration, where it was just ₹ 30,000 crore under the previous government.
The letter is apparently aimed at fortifying people’s confidence in the BJP as it seeks to stay in power for the second consecutive term in the polls on May 10.
However, the saffron party has begun facing challenge from a resurgent congress and opposition in the state.
On Saturday, PM Modi held a 26-km roadshow in Bengaluru to whip up frenzy in favour of the party, overshadowing the challenges raised by opposition leaders including DK Shivakumar and Siddaramaiah of the Congress and HD Kumaraswamy of the JD(S) .
‘You have always showered me with love and affection. It feels like a divine blessing to me,’ PM Modi reportedly said in the letter.
Adding further, he said ‘in our 'Azaadi ka Amrit Kaal', we Indians have aimed to make our beloved country a developed nation. Karnataka is keen to lead the movement to realise its vision.’
The PM Modi promised in the letter to make ‘Karnataka No.1 in investment, industry and innovation and No.1 in education, employment and entrepreneurship.’
‘India is the fifth-largest economy. Our next aim is to reach the top three. This is possible only when Karnataka rapidly grows to become a $1 trillion economy.’ He was quoted by NDTV as writing in the letter.
Addressing the concerns of people on development, Modi said the BJP administration will create next-gen urban infrastructure and transport and raise the quality of life in rural and urban areas.
Adding further as a morale booster Modi wrote, ‘the dream of every citizen of Karnataka is my dream.’
