Hyderabad: A group of farmers in Talangana dumped paddy in front of BJP MP Dharampuri Arvind's residence in Nizamabad district on Tuesday.

Binning a truckload of paddy in front of the lawmaker's residence at Armoor, farmers accused the Central government of not procuring paddy in the state.

They were carrying placards and raising slogans against the Central government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, IANS reported.

The farmers, including women, asked the Centre to procure entire paddy grown in Telangana during the ongoing Rabi season.

In the first-ever protest of the kind in the state, one of the farmer alleged that BJP government was discriminatory towards Telangana.

The incident took place after the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi started agitation on the issue.

The farmers asked BJP MP fulfill his assurance that the Centre would procure paddy.

Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao and state cabinet ministers protested on Monday in Delhi, demanding the Centre to procure paddy from Telangana.

The chief minister yesterday had given 24-hour deadline to the Modi government to decide on the state's demand.

For the last two weeks, the TRS has been staging protests across Telangana to press its demand, IANS reported.

Meanwhile, the BJP in their counter-protest in Hyderabad on Monday blamed the TRS government for the current situation.
