Teenaged rape survivor raped in UP police station
text_fieldsLucknow: A 13-year-old in Uttar Pradesh's Lalitpur district had to live the ordeal again.
This time she was allegedly raped by the policeman whom she approached to lodge a complaint against four men for raping her last month, according to The Indian Express.
After the girl narrated her sufferings to child helpline, police filed case against six people including the Station House Officer (SHO) and the girl's aunt.
The cop was suspended and arrested after the girl's mother lodged a complaint against him.
"All six accused, including the SHO and the victim's aunt, have been arrested. The SHO has been arrested from Prayagraj," ADG (Kanpur Zone) Bhanu Bhaskar was quoted as saying.
The four accused men and the aunt are neighbours of the victim.
This school student who is the daughter of famer is currently in the custody of the Childline Welfare Committee, according to the report.
The mother's complaint alleged four men kidnapping her daughter on April 22 to Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh, where staying for three days she was allegedly raped, according to report.
The men left the girl at the police station on April 26, the complaint said. Afterwards the girl was handed over to her aunt and a day later the police called the girl to the station to record her statement.
The complaint further said that her aunt took her to the station where SHO allegedly raped her.
After the incident surfaced in media, Priyanak Gandhi tweeted taking a dig at the Yogi Adityanath government asking if police stations were not safe for women where would they go for complaints.
