Tamil Nadu education minister faces backlash for making ICU ambulance wait

Tamil Nadu School Education minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi has landed in a controversy after an ICU ambulance was made to wait for his convoy to pass. District collector Dinesh Ponram was also with the minister.

The incident at a bridge at Kumbakonam went viral after a video was shared on social media.

The minister was travelling with 15 other vehicles. A policewoman stopped the ambulance even though the siren was blaring. The police did not allow the medical service vehicle to move until all the vehicles in the minister's convoy passed through the area.

The incident took place on a one-way road. Many criticised that the ambulance should have been given priority regardless of the road's structure. People are once again raising their voice against the special treatment given to VIPs.

BJP leader Narayanan Thirupathy demanded that Poyyamozhi resign from his post and CM M.K. Stalin issue an unconditional apology. He said strict action must be taken against the police officers as well.
