New Delhi: Former Prime Minister of India from Congress, Manmohan Singh chided Prime Minister Narendra Modi for blaming Jawaharlal Nehru for every other issue out there and added that the PM's chair has a special stature, NDTV reported.

In his video message, Dr Manmohan Singh said that Congress had never divided the country for dubious political gains. While people are facing inflation, unemployment etc., instead of addressing those or rectifying the same, the government is more involved in blaming former PM Jawaharlal Nehru, he said.

He claimed that when he was India's PM for ten years, he spoke through his work and never let the country lose its prestige before the world. He suggested that PM Modi should maintain dignity instead of blaming history to play down his faults. He has the satisfaction that despite the false accusations against him for being weak, quiet and corrupt, BJP and its allies are getting exposed before the country.

Further, he accused the Modi government of suppressing the Chinese incursions at the Line of Actual Control. He taunted Modi that foreign policy does not run on forced hugging of leaders, swinging on swings or feeding them biryani. He alleged that BJP led national government is a fake nationalist and has divisive policies. BJP's nationalism is similar to British's policy of divide and rule. The government's economic policy is out of selfishness and greed. It intends to divide and make people fight, he said.

Regarding the security breach that made PM Modi stuck on a flyover for 20 minutes, Singh said that it as because of protesting farmers. He accused that there was an attempt to degrade Chief Minister of Punjab, Charanjit Singh Channi and Punjab's people. There were attempts to defame Punjab and its people during the farmers' agitation too. While the world salutes Punjabi's bravery and patriotism, the Union's NDA government chose to utter no word on that line, he said. He added that as Punjabi, the Modi government's actions hurt him.
