Chennai: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin and DMK Parliamentary Party leader Kanimozhi Karunanidhi will join Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’ in Bihar on August 27, marking a major show of opposition unity.

Rahul Gandhi launched the yatra on August 17 in Purnea, presenting it as a people’s movement to protest alleged irregularities in the revision of the state’s voter list and what he called attempts at voter manipulation. The campaign has since gained momentum, with Gandhi travelling across several districts alongside Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav.

The two leaders have addressed public meetings, interacted with citizens and led rallies. A two-wheeler rally in Purnea, in which both participated, was seen as a symbolic gesture of grassroots mobilization and youth involvement.

The yatra will conclude on September 1 with a mass rally in Patna, where Gandhi is expected to be joined by leaders from INDIA bloc allies. Stalin and Kanimozhi’s participation on August 27 signals DMK’s support for the Congress and its partners in Bihar.

With the Lok Sabha elections approaching, Gandhi has framed the yatra as part of a larger battle to protect electoral integrity and democratic rights. The Congress has accused the BJP of “vote theft” in Bihar and alleged that the Election Commission of India has acted in collusion with the ruling party.
