Deoria: Samajwadi Party (SP) is not in power for long in Uttar Pradesh, but the truth has not dawned on some of the party men yet.
A senior SP leader was arrested for threatening workers at an automobile service centre in Deoria here.
Sangam Yadav is heard saying in an audio clip that he is still national secretary of the party though Akhilesh Yadev government is not around.
Yadav threatened if his car was not repaired he would blow the car with all workers at Classic Motors, an authorized service centre in Deoria.
Sangam Yadav's Swift car was involved in an accident and was sent in for repair at the facility, according to India Today.
The insurance company approved repairs to the frontal side of the car but Yadav wanted damages to the sides of the car be included in the claim.
When the agency's service advisor, Vikram Patel informed Yadav of the details on September 17, the SP leader started threatening the employee.
Vikram Patel reportedly met Yadav who threatened him with dire consequences if his demands were not met.
Following Patel's complaint, a case was registered at Sadar Kotwali under sections 384 (extortion), 504 and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC; subsequently Yadav was arrested.
The BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawala said Akhilesh Yadav's Samajwadi Party is a party of goons and demanded that Sangam Yadav be stripped of all party posts.
