Sonia Gandhi served fresh notice by ED to appear on July 21 in National Herald case
text_fieldsNew Delhi: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has served Congress president Sonia Gandhi with a fresh notice on Monday asking her to join the probe in an alleged money laundering case related to the National Herald newspaper on July 21.
She had written to the ED on June 22 after being tested positive for Covid-19 and requested them to postpone the date of the questioning, which the agency accepted.
"She was suffering with Covid complications and was not fit for questioning," said a source.
Sonia Gandhi tested positive for the virus on June 2 and was admitted to Delhi's Sir Ganga Ram Hospital after developing nose bleeds.
A second summons was issued by the agency for June 23, but Gandhi was unable to attend as she was "strictly advised to rest at home following her hospitalisation on account of COVID-19 and a lung infection".
Following this, she had asked for a four-week postponement, and hence she has been asked to appear on July 21, according to officials.
Previously, Rahul Gandhi was asked to appear before ED and was questioned for 51 hours over a five-day-long inquisition. He was reportedly asked about transactions made by Dotex Merchandise Pvt Ltd, which was based in Kolkata.
