Sonam Kapoor's house was robbed in 10-11 months: Police
text_fieldsThe complaint regarding the Rs 2.4 crore theft, which happened in Sonam's Delhi residence, was lodged on February 3. But, the complainant noticed the theft on February 11. The police had registered an FIR under section 381 (Theft by clerk or servant of property in possession of master) of the Indian Penal Code at the Tughlak Road police station. An investigation was also initiated.
After the news of the theft came to the public, police arrested a couple, a nurse, who identified Aparna Ruth Wilson and her husband on April 13. The nurse was employed to look after Sonam's mother-in-law. The nurse's husband, who is accused of selling the stolen items, was identified as Naresh Kumar Sagar.
During interrogation, the couple revealed that the nurse noticed the Sonam's mother-in-law's properties, cash and jewellery, while she had been working there since March 2021. Her husband advised her to conduct the operation in intervals, and per plan, she thieved the jewellery at night.
The accused used sedatives on the mother-in-law to ease her work. After stealing, she handed over the goods to her husband, who sold them to different jewellers in the city.
The couple gradually paid off their debts, managed the medical expenses of their parents and even purchased a second-hand i-10 car with the stolen money.
A jeweller was also arrested shortly after the arrest of the accused. The police have recovered 100 diamond pieces, six gold chains, six diamond bangles, a diamond bracelet, two tops (earrings), one brass coin and one i-10 car.
