New Delhi: Inciting widespread flak from netizens, a notice restricting delivery executives from using elevators in a housing society appeared and went viral on social media.

IAS officer Awanish Sharan shared the image, captioning "No Caption", and condemned the notice, NDTV reported. A user stated that the notice was pasted in a housing society in Delhi.

According to the notice, none other than residents of the building should use the lift, and it specifies that "Swiggy, Zomato and other delivery drivers" are barred from using it.

After it was shared, the picture gathered more than 18,000 like, sparking outrage among netizens. Some said that the residents must have the minimum courtesy to collect deliveries from the foot of the building, while some called it discrimination.

NDTV quoted a user, "Can you deliver the food or delivery bag to the 20th floor by using the staircase? I wonder, No... Just coz they need this job. It doesn't mean you will take the benefit out of it. They are Humans too. And lifts cost if usage can be easily manageable if any society wants to."

Another user wrote that delivery apps must charge people extra as per the floor where the customers belong in a building if they do not allow them to use lifts. Or the customers must be told to use their "exclusive lifts", come to the foot of the building and collect their parcels.

Another suggested delivery executives leave packages with the security guards of the building.
