Shraddha Walkar murder: father demands action against policemen
text_fieldsPalghar/Maharashtra: In the Shraddha Walkar murder case, Shraddha's father, Vikas Walkar has approached Mira Bhayandar-Vasai Virar (MBVV) police chief demanding action against the policemen who ignored two complaints on Shraddha's case, PTI reported.
Shraddha Walkar was allegedly murdered by her live-in partner Aaftab Poonawala, who chopped her body into parts, stored them in a fridge and disposed of them over 18 days in woods next to where the couple lived for a few days in Delhi.
The MBVV police chief, Madhukar Pandey, assured Vikas of action against the said officials, Vikas told reporters outside the police chief's office on Tuesday. Vikas was meeting the police officer for the second time.
According to Vikas, Shraddha had filed a complaint with the Tulinj police in 2020, accusing Poonawala of abusing and assaulting her, while he himself had approached the Manikpur police after his daughter went missing last year.
Both police stations, which come under the jurisdiction of the MBVV, did not act on the complaints quickly, he had alleged earlier.
A deputy commissioner of police from Vasai is carrying out a probe into the allegations of dereliction of duties, said Vikas on Tuesday. He was also apprised of the formation of a special investigation team (SIT) in the case.
Vikas said he was satisfied with the probe done by the Delhi police, which arrested Poonawala and demanded maximum punishment for the accused.
